Date new versions published                                                               September 2018

Planned review date                                                                              December 2023

Summary

NZMAC ITO carried out a review to better align these unit standards to the graduate outcomes of the New Zealand qualifications relating to the marine industry and also to reflect the new health and safety legislation.  Industry and subject matter experts provided feedback and input into the review of these unit standards.

NZMAC ITO developed new unit standards for the Composite Sail Making strand of the New Zealand Certificate in Yacht Rig Structure (Level 4) [Ref: 3126] to meet the graduate outcomes of this qualification.  The review was carried out in consultation with representatives from the Sailmaking sector.

Main changes

·      Credits decreased for unit standards 11801, 11813, 18171, and 23040 as a result of reduced outcomes and to better reflect the learning and assessment time involved.

·      The level of unit standards 11805, 11809, 11812, and 11813 increased from 3 to 4 to better represent the learning and skill required.

·      Unit standard titles and outcomes were updated to better reflect the evidence required to demonstrate competence.

·      Guidance Information was updated to reflect the changes in legislation and to update definitions.

·      Six unit standards were developed to assess key skills required for sailmaking.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2020
