Summary
New graded unit standards in domain Vagahau Niue were registered in November 2016 following the NQS regular review cycle.
The unit standards have been reviewed to more closely align them to The New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) and the common assessment framework for languages.
The original review panel was consulted, including teachers in Niue and New Zealand, other stakeholders and user groups were also consulted. The Project Advisory Group established to oversee the review panel approved the changes.
Main changes
Fifteen graded Vagahau Niue unit standards were amended to more closely align to The New Zealand Curriculum and the Learning Languages assessment framework.
Guidance information was expanded to provide more detailed definitions and fuller descriptions of assessment requirements; outcomes and performance criteria were tightened or expanded; the target language was used to provide a richer sense of the context for assessment.
