The Primary ITO has reviewed unit standards 28254 and 20234.  Unit standard 20234 was also reinstated and reclassified.

Summary

 

Unit standard 28254 was reviewed during July 2019 and August 2019 by conference call meetings and skype, with the External Working Group (EWG) comprised of representatives from the Meat Processing Association and the Petfood Association.  The EWG also recommended the reinstatement of unit standard 20234 including a change in subfield and domain to allow it to be used across various primary product food processing industriesBoth unit standards were then sent out to Consent to Assess holders in August 2019 for feedback.  Changes were incorporated where appropriate in consultation with the EWG.

 

Main changes

 

·      Unit standard 28254 was reviewed and content updated to reflect current industry practices.

·      Titles of unit standards 28254 and 20234 were amended to more closely reflect the current compliance systems in use in the food processing industry.

·      Unit standard 20234 was reinstated, reclassified and content updated to allow it to be used across various primary product food processing industries.

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2021
