NZ Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation Inc (HITO) has completed the revision and rollover of the unit standards above.

Date new versions published                                                               September 2019

Planned review date                                                                              December 2021

Summary

HITO’s Technical Advisory Panel and Board have revised and rolled over these unit standards as part of HITO’s scheduled maintenance plan.

The industry stakeholder representatives considered any feedback received from organisations with consent to assess for these standards as part of this process.  Feedback about required changes was minimal, and moderation had not indicated any major issues with the content of the standards.  As a result, it was decided to roll over these standards, with a new planned review date to match the rest of the standards in the Salon Skills domain.  HITO will undertake a review of all standards in this domain at the same time, in 2021.

The revision has resulted in minor amendments to ensure the standards are fit-for-purpose and meet the current needs of industry pending the full review of standards in this domain.

Main changes

·      References and legislation were updated for currency.

·      In standards 21935, 21937, 21938, the requirement for assessment to take place over 10 consecutive scheduled working days was reduced to five days, in response to stakeholder feedback around what is reasonable for Level 2 learners within the assigned credit values.

·      In standard 21940, wording of some performance criteria (PCs) and the range for PC 3.1 were simplified to clarify the intent of the standard.

·      The title, and related wording throughout, was amended in response to feedback of stakeholders to clarify the intent of standard 27168.

·      The level of standard 28019 was increased from 4 to 5 in response to feedback from stakeholders that the skills and knowledge required by this standard do not align with the NZQF descriptors for Level 4.
