Summary of review and consultation process

The review of the three qualifications listed above ran from July to December 2018, consisting of a preparatory stage when information was gathered, followed by a number of consultation events, including an online survey, face-to-face meetings, engagement workshops and a webinar.

The feedback and recommendations from the various consultation events were analysed with proposed amended qualification outlines and sent back to stakeholders for comment and attestation.

 


 

Main changes resulting from the review

New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) [Ref: 2469]

·         Graduate profile outcome statements have been revised to ensure clarity.   

·         Conditions relating to the qualification outcomes were removed.

·         A Guidance document for Programme Developers will be available on Careerforce’s website.

·         A minimum of 80 hours work experience is now a mandatory requirement.

New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) with strands in Health Assistance, Newborn Hearing Screening, Orderly Services, Support Work, Vision Hearing Screening, and Whānau, Kin and Foster Care [Ref: 2470]

·         A Communication Skills graduate profile outcome statement has been added at the request of industry.

·         Graduate profile outcome statements have been revised to ensure clarity. 

·         An increase of 5 credits has been made to the credit total for the Vision Hearing Screening strand. 

·         Conditions relating to the qualification outcomes were removed.

·         A Guidance document for Programme Developers will be available on Careerforce’s website.

·         A minimum of 100 hours work experience is now a mandatory requirement. 

New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) (Advanced Support) [Ref: 2779]

·         This qualification will be expired and replaced by a new qualification: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Advanced Care and Support) (Level 4) [Ref: 4108].

·         The new qualification includes additional graduate profile outcome statements, an increase of total credits from 70 to 120 and the inclusion of a minimum of 200 hours mandatory work experience.
