Summary

The Skills Organisation and the industrial rope access sector stakeholders held two meetings, in November 2018 and February 2019, to discuss the graduate outcomes and conditions that had to be met for the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4) [Ref: 2359].  The existing unit standards were reviewed alongside the qualification conditions and the industry approved best practice guidelines for the sector.

Main changes

·      Unit standard 19365 was set to expire without replacement as it was no longer fit for purpose.

·      Credit values of unit standards 19366, 19367, 19368 and 19369 were decreased to more accurately reflect the time taken to achieve the competencies of an intermediate rope access operator.

·      The titles of unit standard 19368 and 19369 were updated to fully represent the outcomes.

·      New unit standard 31854 was developed to support graduate profile outcome 4 of the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4) [Ref: 2359].

·      The light haulage outcome was removed from unit standard 19367 and placed in the new unit standard 31854 as haulage systems can be set up and operated without having to alter and inspect the system.

·      Unit standards were updated to align with current template.

Category D unit standard 19365 will expire at the end of December 2021

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2021
