Summary of review and consultation process |
|
The External Working Group (EWG) comprised of key industry personnel who were representative of the industries involved with artificial insemination, and the Primary ITO Sector Manager. At the consultation meeting the EWG discussed how well the qualification was meeting industry requirements; the changes that had occurred over the last five years, and changes likely to occur over the next five years that would impact on the qualification. The updated qualification was sent out for consultation to the wider industry including all members of the Dairy Industry Partner Group (IPG). Overall the feedback on changes to the qualification were positive with no further changes required. |

Main changes resulting from the review |
|
– Practical livestock handling is no longer required for artificial insemination (AI) technicians due to health and safety risks. The farmer is now expected to have livestock ready for AI, therefore this outcome was removed. – Credits were increased for Graduate Outcome 1 from 15 to 25 to more accurately reflect the time taken to learn, practice and demonstrate competency when planning for and artificially inseminating livestock. |
