This change report was republished in May 2021.  This was because in April 2021, in response to school sector feedback, Skills Active requested further changes to the impact on existing organisations with consent to assess section below.  This was to allow for the extension to additional standards to be granted at the field, subfield, domain and standard levels for unit standards 31677 and 31678.

Skills Active Aotearoa has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                               February 2019

Planned review date                                                                              December 2023

Summary

The review of these unit standards was prompted by the outcomes of the mandatory review of qualifications, specifically the listing of:

·            New Zealand Certificate in Sport Coaching (Level 3) [Ref: 3228].

Feedback from stakeholders was gathered through an open consultation process and used to guide the development of the industry training programme for the qualification above, and the development and review of the associated unit standards.

New unit standards were developed to meet industry needs for sports coaching.

Main changes

·         Unit standards 22771 and 25805 were reviewed to ensure currency with industry knowledge and practice.

·         Unit standard 25812 was designated expiring without replacement due to low usage and no longer aligning with industry requirements.

·         Unit standard 22770 was replaced by unit standard 31675 as, while the overarching topic is similar, the expectations of industry have changed significantly in terms of what a learner must demonstrate to be deemed competent.

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2022

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2020
