|
Consultation undertaken with stakeholders confirmed that the difference between the graduates of these two qualifications is unclear. It was confirmed that there is only one graduate role recognised by industry, i.e. a barber. Stakeholders agreed that as a result, there should only be one barbering qualification. The review was informed by discussion at a senior level and by consistency review results. Nationwide consultation meetings were held with stakeholders, and these confirmed that only one barbering qualification was necessary. As a result, the New Zealand Certificate in Barber Skills (Level 3) [Ref: 2114] is no longer required. The review resulted in no significant changes in required skills and knowledge, and subsequently only minor changes to graduate outcomes and purpose for the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Barbering (Level 4) [Ref: 2115]. |

ˇ The graduate profile outcomes (GPOs) were amended to simplify and reflect what a qualified barber is expected to know, do, and be. ˇ GPO conditions were amended. ˇ Credits were reduced from 180 to 120 to more accurately reflect the time required to meet the graduate outcomes. ˇ A new review date was set.
