NZQA Māori Qualifications Services has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary
The unit standards were reviewed to ensure they are fit for purpose, relevant and that their outcomes are achievable and consistent with assessment practices.
All amendments to the unit standards were endorsed by the Whakaruruhau.
The review of standard 29532 identified relevance issues and therefore standard 31649 has been written to replace it at Level 1.
The review of standard 7889 identified other forms of weaving stands used in today’s classrooms and therefore standard 31651 has been written to replace it.
The review of standard 27103 identified that it required major changes and as such standard 31653 has been written to replace it. The level has decreased from 5 to 4 as there is presently no demand at Level 5.
Standard 27102 was reviewed to ensure it remains fit for purpose and provides a pathway for learners from Level 1 through to Level 6.
Main changes
· Merit and Excellence grades were added to all reviewed standards at Levels 1 – 4, and to all new standards.
· Standard 7888 was reclassified from the Tāniko domain to the Taonga domain.
· Standard 31649 has replaced standard 29532.
· Standard 31651 has replaced standard 7889.
· Standard 31653 has replaced standard 27103.
· New standards 31650, 31652 and 31654 were developed to provide a pathway from level 1 through to level 4.
· All standards were reformatted onto the new template.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019.
