The Primary ITO has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published January 2019
Planned review date December 2023
Summary
Primary ITO has reviewed these units and established that the competencies described therein are industry requirements for Level 3 learners.
The mechanism for consultation was an education working group established by NZPork. This group comprised farmers, educational specialists, veterinarians, a NZPork board member and a Primary ITO Education Designer. Consultation was conducted by the ITO and working group members via face-to-face meetings, electronic feedback and through members accessing their network of stakeholders.
Feedback was evaluated by a subject matter expert (Massey University Lecturer in Pig husbandry) and the Primary ITO. All major changes were submitted to, and approved by, the working group.
Main changes
· The level of one unit standard was changed to better match the level descriptor.
· The credits of nine unit standards were decreased and three unit standards increased to match the time taken to learn, practice and be assessed against the outcomes.
· One new unit standard was developed to meet the qualification graduate outcomes.
· Two unit standards were replaced by two new unit standards.
· Nine unit standards were designated expiring without replacement as they are no longer required.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2020
