Summary

The Primary ITO has reviewed a number of unit standards to better reflect industry needs and to meet the requirements of the outcomes listed in the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Fishing (Level 3) with strands in Shellfish, Wet Fish, and Frozen Fish [Ref: 3133].

There are a number of organisations with consent to assess by level, as well as individual unit standards.  Organisations with consent to assess, as well as industry stakeholders, had the opportunity to review the relevant unit standards and offer feedback.  This consultation was carried out by email in September 2018.  All feedback was actioned where appropriate.

Main changes

·      35 unit standards were reviewed to reflect current industry practices.

·      Unit standard 23835 was designated expiring without replacement because it was no longer required.

·      The levels for unit standards 19846, 19847, and 19877 increased from 2 to 3 to better reflect the complexity of outcomes.

·      Credits for unit standards 15679, 15680, 19437, 19846, 19877, 20934, 23031 and 23032 increased to reflect the time taken to learn, practice the skills, and be assessed.

The Category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2019

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is 31 December 2019
