Summary
The review of unit standard 19858 was triggered by, and undertaken alongside, the extractives industry. The review has resulted in fit-for-purpose pre-requisite skills and knowledge being included that reflects current industry practice and entry points into assessment of this standard.
Consultation was carried out with the extractives industry during the review process, and both industry and MITO endorsed the changes.
Main changes
· The title and outcome statements were amended to ensure the unit standard covers underground operations, rather than specifically underground mines.
· The pre-requisite details were updated to clearly reflect all appropriate entry points.
· Performance criteria were amended to meet the current and ongoing needs of the industry.

This unit standard has been transferred from CMR 0114 to CMR 0014.
