Summary

MITO has reviewed the unit standards listed above and developed new unit standards at the request of industry.

The unit standards were reviewed and developed to align with the New Zealand Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering (Level 5) [Ref: 3915].

This review has resulted in fit-for-purpose assessment content being made available to industry that reflects current legislation and industry practice.

MITO’s electric vehicle automotive engineering industry working group endorsed the unit standard review.  The working group includes subject matter experts and representatives from industry, and MITO.

Main changes

·      Unit standard 30875 was reviewed to expand the rectification of potential faults that this covers beyond removing and replacing high voltage battery or battery banks.

·      Unit standard 30879 was reviewed and replaced by two new unit standards to separate the competencies based on the requirements of industry.

·      A new unit standard was developed to support the electric vehicle automotive engineering industry training requirements.

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2020

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2020
