Summary

 

As a result of the Targeted Review of Qualifications, MITO reviewed and developed driving and commercial road transport unit standards to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport Skills (Level 3) [Ref 3088], New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Heavy Vehicle Operator) (Level 3) [Ref 3089], New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Specialist Driver) (Level 4) with strands in Transportation of Logs, Heavy Haulage Transportation, Livestock Transportation, Dangerous Goods Transportation, Waste Transportation, General Cartage, and Groundspreading [Ref: 3091], and to ensure they are fit-for-purpose for the industry sectors.

 

MITO was supported by the industry’s working groups including subject matter experts and MITO representatives.  The standards were circulated to the working group’s networks, and a consultation period was held on the MITO website.  Feedback received was actioned where appropriate.

 

Main changes

 

·      Four new standards were developed to align with the requirements of the New Zealand qualifications.

·      Credits and levels of units 1734, 1737, 1763, 17677, 17977, 18931, 20620, 26558, 28779 were adjusted to reflect industry practice.

·      Guidance information, performance criteria, range statements and outcomes were amended to ensure relevance to industry practice and to reflect the intended outcome of the standard.

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2020
