Summary

Skills and the rigging sector stakeholders held three meetings to discuss the graduate outcomes and conditions that had to be met for the rigging qualification at Level 5.  The existing unit standards were reviewed alongside the qualification conditions and industry approved code of practice for the rigging sector.  It was determined that due to the change in credit values and clarification relating to Level 5 skills and knowledge in relation to Level 4 unit standards, the above unit standards should be expired and replaced.

Main changes

·      Unit standards 4217, 4218 and 4219 were replaced by unit standards 31815, 31816 and 31817 respectively.

·      Levels for all standards were increased from 4 to 5 to reflect role competencies for advanced rigging work.

·      Credit values were decreased to more accurately reflect the time taken to achieve the competencies of an advanced rigger.

·      The replacement unit standards have been listed under the domain Core Rigging.

The last date for assessment of Category C unit standards is December 2021
