Summary
As the transition process to the Food Act 2014 and Food Regulations 2015 was completed in February 2019, unit standard 17239 was reviewed to reflect the new legislation and remove references to the legislation that was replaced. Definitions were added to clarify terms used and the level of knowledge required for competency.
Consultation was carried out with the retail meat industry during the review process, and both industry and Competenz endorsed the changes.
Main changes
· References to the Food Hygiene Regulations 1974, the Food Safety Regulations 2002, the Resource Management Act 1991 and the Sale of Goods Act 1908 were deleted and updated where appropriate. References to the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017 and the Food Regulations 2015 were added.
· The Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code was moved to a separate performance criterion.
· The terms application, explain, and purpose were defined in the Guidance Information.
· Performance criteria and range statements were updated for clarity and currency.
The last date for assessment of superseded version of this Category B unit standard is December 2020
