Summary
A review of unit standards in the Generic Design domain was undertaken in late 2018 to ensure they remain fit for purpose. Feedback was gathered from stakeholders and used to guide the development of new versions of the standards. The new versions were then consulted on nationally.
Main changes
· Standard 15732 changed from Level 5 to Level 4 to better reflect the requirements and expectations of the standard.
· Standard 15720 will be expired without replacement (very low usage in the last 4 years and duplicates outcomes in standard 7497).
· Standard 7518 increased in credits from 6 to 8 to reflect current expectations of the level of work required in design brief development.
· The standards reflect the new template, where Explanatory notes are renamed Guidance information, and Evidence requirements become Performance criteria.
· Performance criteria and outcomes were amended as required to clarify the evidence required.
· Titles of standards 15730,15731,15732 were changed to fully represent the outcomes of the units.
· Changes were made to guidance information to update legislation and for consistency across the standards.
The Category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2020
