Summary of review and consultation process |
|
The qualification was developed in 2014 for herd testers employed by Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC). Discussions were carried out with LIC to determine why there had been no uptake over the last 5 years. It was found that herd testers undergo a three-week training course with LIC including 1 weeks’ workplace supervision on commencement of their employment. The qualification was, therefore, not fit for purpose as the New Zealand Certificate qualification structure did not meet their needs due to the minimum 40 credit requirement. Discussions are underway with LIC to meet their training needs through credentialing using other means. It was, therefore, recommended that the qualification be expired without replacement. |
