The MITO New Zealand Incorporated has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published August 2020
Planned review date December 2024
Summary
MITO reviewed coachbuilding and vehicle bodywork unit standards to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Certificate in Coachbuilding (Level 3) [Ref: 4225] and the New Zealand Certificate in Coachbuilding (Level 4) [Ref: 4226], and to ensure they are fit-for-purpose for the industry sectors.
MITO was supported by the coachbuilding industry’s working group including subject matter experts and MITO representatives. The standards were circulated to the working group’s networks and organisations with consent to assess and a consultation period was held. Feedback received was actioned where appropriate.
Main changes
· Guidance information, outcomes, performance criteria and range statements of units were updated to ensure relevance to industry practice and to reflect the intended outcome of the standards.
· Unit 11709 and Unit 11716 increased credits to reflect time required for learning and assessment for fitting coach exterior body parts, and interior coach fittings, respectively.
· Titles of Unit 11709, 11716, 22802 and 23999 were amended to align with content changes.
· Three new standards were developed to fill the gap for those who need to fit automotive glass in coaches, and gain skills and knowledge of plumbing and gasfitting in the coachbuilding industry.
