Competenz has completed the reinstatement of the expired unit standards listed above.

Summary

 

The review of these expired unit standards was conducted in conjunction with the review of the qualifications for Solid Wood Manufacturing sector, and the development of programmes leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing (Level 3) with strands in Finger Jointing; Pole, Post and Pile; Saw Doctoring; Sawmilling; Timber Drying; Timber Grading and Optimising; Timber Machining; and Timber Treatment [Ref: 1969]; and New Zealand Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing (Level 4) with strands in Laminating, Timber Drying, Timber Grading, and Timber Treatment [Ref: 1973], later this year.

 

These expired unit standards were reviewed in May and November 2019 through face-to-face meetings with the Technical Advisory Group (TAG), which consists of industry experts, and via email and skype with the industry representatives.  All stakeholders were advised via email, Sector Advisory Group meetings, and Competenz Training Advisors. 

 

These expired unit standards have been endorsed for reinstatement by the TAG in November 2019.

 

Main changes

 

·      Expired unit standards 22990 and 22991 were reinstated.  These will be included in new programmes leading to the reviewed qualifications.

·      Guidance Information, Outcomes and Performance criteria statements were updated to reflect current legislation, references, and industry practices.

 

Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)

 

These unit standards were moved to CMR 0013 from CMR 0173.
