Reason for the republication
The National certificate was set to expiring during 2017 as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) for the Outdoor Recreation sector. The qualification was replaced by qualifications in the Outdoor Leadership suite:
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Level 4) with strands [Ref: 3662]
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Guiding) (Level 5) with strands [Ref: 3660]
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Senior Leadership (Level 6) with strands [Ref: 3663]
The Rafting sector transitioned from Maritime New Zealand to Worksafe New Zealand on 1 October 2020. Final work is being undertaken to ensure the replacement New Zealand qualifications and the supporting unit standards and programmes of industry training are aligned with the new legislative requirements. To ensure there is no impact on staff training and credentialing for the 20/21 Rafting season the last date for entry into programmes leading to the National certificate has been extended.
The last date for entry to programmes has been extended from 31 December 2020 to 31 March 2021. The last date for assessment was not extended and remains at 31 December 2021.
Main changes resulting from the republication
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Skills Active Aotearoa Ltd at the address below.
