Summary of review and consultation process

The Skills Organisation collaborated with the Industrial Rope Access Association of NZ (IRAANZ) regarding the qualification requirements. A Working Group was formed with representation from IRAANZ, employers and providers to review the entry level qualification for industrial rope access.

The review re-confirmed that the skills and knowledge required by a graduate to do the basic vertical rope work using constructed anchors was right for entry level positions and that people who are at this level will be able to conduct inspection and testing, maintenance and repair and cleaning of industrial rope access equipment.

The Working Group endorsed version 2 of the qualification.

Main changes resulting from the review

• The qualification graduate outcomes were reviewed and minor amendments were made to align to current industry practices.
• Conditions relating to the qualification graduate outcomes were deleted.
• Credit values of each graduate outcome were confirmed as appropriate for the directed learning and the self-directed learning taking place in the workplace and were rounded off at GPO level and rounded up at qualification level, from 59 to 60 credits.
• The first aid prerequisite for entry was deleted.

· The evidence requirements for ensuring consistency for the qualification were updated.
