Summary of review and consultation process |
The scheduled review of qualifications was started internally via consultation with Competenz Assessors and Training Advisors in early 2019, then into Stakeholder groups comprised of employers, industry experts, and association representatives. The Sector Advisory Group confirmed that overall, each qualification was working well and providing the outcomes industry was seeking. Changes were largely to do with health & safety and technology changes experienced or anticipated by industry. The usage data of each qualification was a key starting point. This was incorporated with ongoing feedback and shared at with the Sector Advisory Group. The draft qualifications were made available for feedback directly to Stakeholders with two final consultations to confirm the qualifications. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
The qualifications were reviewed to ensure they remained fit for purpose. This included the following: Outcome statement, graduate profile outcomes and indicative credits were updated, without changing the meaning and intent; qualification specifications were updated to meet current requirements for listing. Specific changes additional to the above: · New Zealand Certificate in Wood Manufacturing (Level 2) with strands in Wood Handling and Distribution; Wood Manufacturing Operations and Wood Processing [Ref: 2309] o The Foundation Knowledge strand has been replaced with Wood Manufacturing Operations. · New Zealand Certificate in Wood Handling and Distribution (Level 3) with strands in Log Yard Operations, Paint Operations; Timber Yarding and Despatch and Wood Fibre Operations [Ref: 2310] o An additional strand has been added to formally recognise the skills and experience required for Paint Operations. |
