Summary

As a result of the review of the New Zealand Certificate in Equine Skills (Level 2) [Ref: 2375-2], Primary ITO has reviewed above unit standards to better reflect the requirements of the updated qualification graduate outcomes.

Industry consultation was undertaken, and amendments were made to ensure unit standard content remained fit for purpose.

Consultation was carried out in April 2020 where consent to assess holders had the opportunity to give comment on the email sent asking for feedback to amendments.  This feedback was addressed where appropriate.

Main changes

·      Titles were amended for several unit standards.

·      Credits for several unit standards were increased to reflect the time required to gain competency.

·      Guidance information was amended to reflect current legislation, codes and guidelines.

·      Outcomes and Performance criteria for several unit standards were amended to ensure they remained fit for purpose.

·      Unit standard 25441 was updated to reference the Ministry of Health’s guidelines for personal nutritional requirements.

·      One new unit standard was developed for the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) to recognise the range of communication techniques applied in an RDA session.

·      Unit standards were transferred to current templates.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
