Summary of review and consultation process |
The Whakamahi Whenua, Wāhi Tapu and Environment Māori qualifications were scheduled and triggered for review in 2020. The NZQA Website was updated, signalling the Review and publishing Review Plan and Draft Terms of reference. The Working Group members that participated in the review represented industry, programme providers and tertiary providers who deliver programmes leading to the qualifications. The Qualification Review was conducted online on the 20-22 Haratua 2020. The qualification review ensures the qualifications are relevant, fit for purpose to maintain relevancy across the sector. The review group for the qualifications are listed on the Application to List (NZQF8) and wider consultation for feedback and comments was also conducted via the NZQA website for the duration of 4 weeks. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
Whakamahi Whenua (Mahinga Kai - Te Hoata) (Kaupae 3): § English title change. § Increase credits from 60 to 120. § Minor changes proposed to the Strategic Purpose Statement to provide clarity. § Minor changes applied to reword the Graduate Profile Outcomes to maintain consistency with instructional verbs relevant to level descriptors and to provide clarity. Credit increase for four GPO’s to align with overall credit increase for the qualification. § Minor changes applied to each of the Guiding Principles (Mātāpono) for clarity, consistency and relevance to te ao Māori. § The Education, Employment, Cultural, Community pathways information have been updated and revised for clarity and relevance to Mahinga Kai. Wāhi Tapu (Te Mana Kaitiaki o Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho) (Kaupae 4): § English title change. § Reduce credits from 90 to 60. § Minor changes proposed to the Strategic Purpose Statement to provide clarity. § Minor changes applied to reword the Graduate Profile Outcomes to maintain consistency with instructional verbs relevant to level descriptors, for inclusivity and to provide clarity.
