The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has republished the qualifications listed above.

Summary

These qualifications were reviewed in 2020 and replaced by the following qualifications:

• New Zealand Certificate in Flooring Planning and Design (Level 4) with optional strands in Site Assessment and Estimation [Ref: 4297]
• New Zealand Certificate in Flooring Surface Preparation (Level 4) with strands in Concrete Polishing, Mechanical Preparation, Moisture Treatment Systems and Underlayment Systems (with optional strand in Topical Coatings) [Ref: 4299]
• New Zealand Certificate in Timber and Composite Flooring (Level 4) with strands in Bonded Installation, and Fine Floor Sand and Finishes [Ref: 4300]
• New Zealand Certificate in Resin Flooring Application (Level 4) with strands in Trowel Applied Resin Mortar and Flow Applied Resin Finishes [Ref: 4298]
• New Zealand Certificate in Flooring Installation (Level 4) with strands in Bonded Carpet, Conventional Carpet, Commercial Resilient and Residential Resilient Flooring [Ref: 4296]
• New Zealand Certificate in Concrete (Specialist) (Level 4) with strands in Concrete Sawing and Drilling, and Prestressed Concrete [Ref: 4186]
• New Zealand Certificate in Concrete Production (Level 4) with strands in Batching, Dispatching, and Concrete Testing (with optional strand in Tensile Testing) [Ref: 4187]
• New Zealand Certificate in Concrete Construction (Commercial and Civil Infrastructure) (Level 4) with optional strands in Premanufactured Elements, and Post-tensioned Concrete [Ref: 4188]
• New Zealand Certificate in Concrete Construction Skills (Level 3) with strands in Formwork, Reinforcing, Placing and Finishing, Specified Concrete Finishes, Concrete Product Manufacture, Concrete Sawing and Drilling, and Precast Concrete Manufacture [Ref: 4189]

The National Certificate in Frame and Truss Manufacture (Level 3) [Ref: 1619] was reviewed and will be discontinued. A replacement qualification is currently in development. 

The last date of entry to the replaced qualifications has been extended from 31 December 2020 to 30 June 2021.  This will allow tertiary education providers sufficient time to implement approved programmes leading the replacement qualifications

Transition

The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced National qualifications is 30 June 2021.  

Any new enrolments that are unable to complete the qualification within the allotted timeframe will be transitioned into the appropriate replacement New Zealand qualification.

People currently working towards the replaced qualifications may either complete the requirements for those qualifications by 31 December 2021 or transfer to a programme of study or training leading to a replacement New Zealand qualification.
