Summary of review and consultation process |

The Kaupapa Māori Public Health, and Te Tūāpapa Hei Whai i te Ao Mārama qualifications were scheduled for review in 2020. The NZQA website was updated signalling the review and publishing the Review Plan and Draft Terms of reference. The Working Group members that participated in the review represented industry (ITOs and practitioners), and a tertiary provider (who deliver a programme leading to one of the Kaupapa Māori Public Health qualifications). The review was conducted through an online hui held on the 20-21 April 2020, with a further hui on 22 May 2020. The qualification review ensures the qualifications are relevant and fit for purpose to maintain relevancy across the hauora/health sector. Wider consultation for feedback and comments was also conducted via the NZQA website. |

Main changes resulting from the review |
|
Minor changes made to the titles of qualifications 2871 and 2872, and to the English title of qualification 2880. The Strategic Purpose Statements were amended to provide clarity and to align with minor changes made to the Graduate Profile. The Graduate Profiles were reworded to simplify the language, and to provide clarity and refine what is required of candidates. Education Pathways, and Employment, Cultural, Community Pathways were updated to better reflect where each qualification can build up and lead to. Minor changes were made to the Guiding Principles of the Kaupapa Māori Public Health qualifications, whilst the Guiding Principles for the Te Tūāpapa Hei Whai i te Ao Mārama qualification were redone to better reflect these kaupapa in their proper context. These amendments were made for clarity, consistency and relevance to industry as well as whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori. Qualification Specifications were updated including web links. Qualification type changed from Certificate to Diploma for the New Zealand Diploma in Kaupapa Māori Public Health (Level 5) [Ref: 2871-2]. |
