Summary of review and consultation process

The Tiaki Kuia, Koroua and Social Services qualifications were scheduled for review in 2020.  The NZQA website was updated, signalling the review and publishing Review Plan and Draft Terms of reference.  The Working Group members that participated in the review represented industry, programme providers and tertiary providers who deliver programmes leading to the qualifications.

The qualification review was conducted through an online hui held on the 23-24 April 2020.

The qualification review ensures the qualifications are relevant and fit for purpose to maintain relevancy across the governance sector.

The review group for the qualifications are listed on the Application to List (NZQF8) and wider consultation for feedback and comments was also conducted via the NZQA website for the duration of 4 weeks.

Main changes resulting from the review

Minor changes were proposed to the Strategic Purpose Statement to provide clarity and encourage inclusivity with whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori.

Minor changes were applied to reword the Graduate Profile Outcomes to maintain consistency with instructional verbs relevant to level descriptors and to provide clarity for programme developers.

Minor changes were applied to each of the Guiding Principle (Mātāpono) for clarity, consistency and relevance to industry as well as whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori.

Education, Employment, Cultural, Community pathways have been revised for clarity and relevance in the Tiaki Kuia, Koroua and Social Services sector.
