Summary of review and consultation process

The Whānau Ora qualifications were scheduled for review in 2020.  The NZQA website was updated, signalling the review and publishing Review Plan and Draft Terms of reference.  The Working Group members that participated in the review represented industry, programme providers and tertiary providers who deliver programmes leading to the qualifications.

The qualification review was conducted through an online hui held on the 23-24 April 2020.

The qualification review ensures the qualifications are relevant and fit for purpose to maintain relevancy across the governance sector.

The review group for the qualifications are listed on the Application to List (NZQF8) and wider consultation for feedback and comments was also conducted via the NZQA website for the duration of 4 weeks.

 

Main changes resulting from the revision

Graduate profile outcomes:
Graduate profile outcome 1 amended to replace tangata Māori with whānau, hapū, iwi and/or hapori to include family members from other cultures.

Employment, Cultural and Community Pathways have been amended for clarity of learner pathways.

Guiding Principles:

Where the term practitioners were used these have been amended to kaimahi.

Guiding principles amended to emphasise the importance of Pūkengatanga and Rangatiratanga to Whānau Ora.

General conditions for programmes

General conditions for programmes revised in each of the three qualifications to the following statement was added: All programmes leading to a qualification approved under Te Hono o Te Kahurangi and listed on the NZQF, will be evaluated under Te Hono o Te Kahurangi Quality Assurance.
