Connexis has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published November 2020
Planned review date December 2025
Summary
Connexis identified three unit standards with similar outcomes for line mechanics and substation maintenance. A new replacement unit standard for electrical workers was developed.
The need for safety observers in utility arboriculture was identified and supported by the release of the Utility Arboriculture Best Practice Guideline consultation document by New Zealand Arboricultural Association and Electrical Engineers’ Association.
Consultation occurred with stakeholders, including those with consent to assess, in August 2020.
Main changes
· Guidance information was updated in all standards to ensure currency with industry practice.
· Unit standards 28109, 28885, 28942 were designated expiring with their content consolidated into a new replacement standard to address duplication of outcomes.
· A new unit standard was developed to address the need for safety observers.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2022
