Summary

Throughout 2018-2020, The Skills Organisation (Skills) conducted a review of the unit standards listed above.

The review process involved working closely with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC), and face-to-face consultation with stakeholders in the civil defence and emergency management sector.  There was extensive consultation with wide-ranging stakeholders, and the feedback received resulted in many iterations until attaining consensus amongst industry.

Main changes

·      Unit 22446 was designated expiring and replaced by four new unit standards to better reflect the skillset and knowledge needed in each specialised area.

·      Unit 22447 was designated expiring and replaced by two new unit standards to better reflect the skillset and knowledge needed.

·      Unit 22448 was designated expiring and replaced by two new unit standards to better reflect the skillset and knowledge needed.

·      All unit standards were updated to align to the New Zealand Coordinated Incident Management System 3rd edition.

·      The new unit standards were separated into theory and application-based standards. However, unit standard 32162 contains a combination of theory and application.

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2021
