Summary of review and consultation process |
The review of the two qualifications listed above was held during 2020 including a preparatory stage when information was gathered and the reviewed qualification documents were circulated via email to the stakeholder group for final comment and completion of attestations. The consultation Stakeholder group consisted of employers, industry experts, and association representatives. Both these qualifications have had no uptake and the usual practice would be to expire them, however, as the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented the stakeholder group from engaging in an in-depth review to better explore and ascertain the reasons for the lack of uptake, the following has been agreed upon: · a refresh of language and other qualification processes this year to meet current NZQA requirements; · early review of these qualifications to align with the review of the New Zealand Certificate in Trade Butchery (Level 4) with optional strands in Carcass Breaking and Boning, Curing and Smoking, and Handcrafted Small Goods [Ref: 2972] due December 2022 to cement the required skills and knowledge in the butchery industry and ensure the qualifications going forward meet current and future learning needs for these industries. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
The qualifications were reviewed to ensure they remained fit for purpose. This included the strategic purpose statement, graduate profile outcome statements, and indicative credits of the outcomes where required. The qualification award was amended to ensure clarity and meet current requirements for listing. Evidence requirements for assuring consistency were amended to align with industry requirements. |
