Summary
The unit standards listed above have been reviewed in consultation with key stakeholders, with subsequent input and feedback invited from all providers with consent to assess. These unit standards formed part of a larger body of work undertaken at Careerforce during 2019-2020 to review overdue standards (over and above the usual five-year period).
A new unit standard in youth development was developed following the publication of Ara Taiohi’s Mana Taiohi principles in October 2019. Careerforce developed the standard in conjunction with subject matter experts following a youth development hui in November 2019. Mana Taiohi is a principle-based framework that informs work with young people in New Zealand. It replaced the Youth Development Strategy of Aotearoa (2002).
Main changes
· Guidance information was updated where relevant to include current legislation and up-to-date references.
· Outcomes and Performance criteria wording were amended for greater clarity and to align with terminology currently used in the sector.
· Titles for unit standards 1827 and 26802 were amended to better align with the content.
· A Mana Taiohi standard in youth development was developed following its publication by Ara Taiohi in October 2019.
The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
