Summary of review and consultation process

This is a scheduled five yearly review of qualifications.

The consultation process included providers, industry groups and individual companies from a variety of food or beverage processing sub-sectors.

The consultation identified that:

· in the Level 2 qualification the outcomes were broadly satisfactory, but indicative credit values required some adjustment; and

· in the Level 3 qualification some of the skills and knowledge described in the graduate outcomes did not accurately reflect industry requirements and indicative credit values required some adjustment.

An outcome has been added to each qualification for the inclusion of soft skills.

Main changes resulting from the review

Main changes that apply to both reviewed qualifications:

· Graduate outcomes were updated to ensure they were more reflective of the level of skill that is required from learners in both the Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

· Indicative credits for graduate profile outcomes were amended.

· Strategic Purpose Statements and Outcome statements were amended to reflect current industry needs.

· Conditions specific to graduate outcomes were removed to reflect current template requirements.

· Evidence requirements for assuring consistency were updated.

· General conditions for programmes were amended.
