Summary of review and consultation process |
The review was conducted during August and September 2020. Consultation consisted of initial engagement and feedback by email, a series of ‘virtual’ meetings for face to face discussion and debate, with further email engagement to finalise the result. Stakeholders included practitioners, educators, and industry bodies. Overall, only minor changes were required to refine wording and industry terminology to maintain currency. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
General changes made to both qualifications: · Strategic purpose statement wording amended to better reflect current practice in the sector. · Education Pathway updated. · Employment Pathway wording amended to better reflect sector expectations. · Evidence requirements for assuring consistency wording amended. · Transition information added. · Qualification changed to current template. In addition to above, the following specific changes were also made: New Zealand Certificate in Emergency Care (First Responder) (Level 3) [Ref: 3063] · Graduate profile outcomes (GPOs) 1 and 4 were amended to add “patient-centric”, and “patient”, respectively. Otherwise the profile is unchanged. · General conditions were amended to introduce a reference to knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements. A guidance statement was added to assist programme developers in not exceeding the expectations of the qualification. · The credit values for GPOs 3 and 4 were amended, with no change in total qualification credits. New Zealand Diploma in Ambulance Practice (Level 5) [Ref: 3065] · Other conditions were updated to introduce reference to the Privacy Act. · General conditions were amended to introduce a reference to knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, and clarification of learning modalities to better reflect sector expectations. |
