Summary

These unit standards were reviewed between June and October 2020 as part of the qualification and programme review for rail qualifications.

This review was completed through face-to-face meetings, video and phone calls, and via email with a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) consisting of industry experts.

All feedback received prior to and during the review process were incorporated in consultation with the TAG.  These units were endorsed for registration by the TAG in November 2020.

Main changes

·      Guidance Information was updated across all unit standards, including legislation, definitions, references and assessment information.

·      Unit standards 27284, 27286, and 19396 were designated expiring without replacement, due to low or no usage and no longer being required by the rail industry.

·      Levels for unit standards 18864, 18865, 18868, 18870, 19288, and 28012 were increased to better reflect the level of skill and knowledge, and responsibility required by industry for learners who complete these unit standards.

·      Credit values for unit standards 18865, 18870, 18872, 19282, 28013, 29376, and 29378 were increased to better reflect the time required to gain the skills and knowledge covered by these unit standards.

·      Unit standards 18863, 18864, 18866, 18870, 19282, 19283, 19286, 19287, 19288, 19386, 29375, 29376, 29377 and 29380 have had adjustments made to their titles, to better reflect the outcomes contained in the standards.

·      One new unit standard, 32383, was developed to cover the skills and knowledge required for those operating in a rail operations’ centre.  This development also supports a new qualification which includes these skills and knowledge.

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2021

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2022
