Summary of review and consultation process |
The review group included members of the Māori Business and Management Whakaruruhau, representatives from Skills Active ITO, Te Wānanga O Aotearoa, and New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology. Wider consultation was sought via the NZQA website for feedback from the industry, whānau, hapū, iwi, and other interested parties for a period of four weeks. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
No changes were made to the graduate profile outcome statements, of the Levels 3-5 qualifications. These were deemed to be clear in wording and comprehension. Feedback was received by the only provider (at that time) that these outcomes work. The title of the Level 5 qualification was amended from the “New Zealand Certificate in Business (Māori Business and Management)” to the “New Zealand Certificate in Māori Business and Management”. This change was made to align with the Levels 3 and 4 qualifications, and to better reflect the content of the qualification. Qualification specifications and General conditions for programme leading to qualification sections of all three qualifications were amended to reflect current practice, update internet links, and clarify intent. The Replacement information (under Transition information) for all qualifications was removed, as it is no longer applicable. The replaced National certificates expired 31 December 2019 (for Levels 3 and 4) and the replaced National diploma expired 31 December 2018 (for Level 5). |

Any additional information
People should not be enrolled in programmes leading to the award of the replaced qualifications unless there is sufficient time available for them to meet the programme requirements before that version is discontinued.
People currently enrolled in programmes leading to version 1 of these qualifications may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2023 or transfer to version 2 of the qualification.
It is anticipated that no existing learners will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the qualification developer, NZQA Māori Qualifications Services (mqs@nzqa.govt.nz). |
