Summary
The purpose of this review was to align fourteen unit standards with version 2 of the New Zealand Certificate in Rural Contracting (Level 3), with strands in Crop Production, Harvesting, and Mechanical Vegetation Control [Ref: 2728-2] and to review twelve unit standards overdue for review. The industry reference group identified changes were required to update industry requirements.
The unit standard review process involved consultation with Rural Contractors New Zealand, the industry reference group, and technical advisers from August 2020 to May 2021. Industry feedback was received by email, from Rural Contractors New Zealand and the industry reference group.
Main changes
· Guidance information, legislation, performance criteria and range statements were updated in line with current industry requirements.
· Titles were amended for unit standards 19578 and 23635 to better reflect outcomes.
· Credit totals for unit standards 6255, 6276, 19570, 19571, 23623, 23629, 23633, 28780, 28784, and 28785, were amended for the industry recommendation of 1500 hours of training and assessment to operate rural plant.
· Credits for 6273, 23625, and 23639, were amended to align with current industry requirements for training and assessment for rural contractors.
· Levels for unit standards 6273, 23623 and 23633 were amended from level four to level three to align with current industry requirements for training and assessment of rural contractors.
· Outcome 2 hand test foraging was removed from unit standard 23635 as hand foraging is no longer an industry requirement.
