Summary of review and consultation process

The review of the New Zealand Certificate in Agriculture (Arable Production) (Level 3) was carried out in 2020. The stakeholder consultation period spanned from August-November.

Stakeholders from the arable and mixed farming sector and representatives from the education and training sector were consulted to ensure that the qualification was fit for purpose. This consultation process included expressions of interest, online meetings and email correspondence. Change recommendations were actioned where appropriate.

Follow up discussions with individual sector representatives finalised amendments to the qualification and the final version was endorsed by the working group.

Main changes resulting from the review

· Minor changes were made to the qualification specifications to meet current technical criteria for the listing of qualifications.

· Conditions relating to the graduate profile outcomes were removed.

· Employment pathway was updated.

· GPO1 and GPO2 credit values were increased to better reflect a 12-month arable growing cycle.

· GPO1 increased from 15 to 20 credits.

· GPO2 increased from 25 to 35 credits.

· GPO3 was amended.

· New GPO4 was developed to include communication skills.
