NZQA – Māori Qualifications Services (MQS) has completed the reclassification and revision of the unit standards listed above.

Summary
The Māori Performance unit standards have long been known by the initials MPA, which stems from the subfield Māori Performing Arts (this despite the fact they sit in the Māori Performance domain). Neither MPA (or Māori Performing Arts) nor Māori Performance accurately reflect what the unit standards are about, so in light of this and the Ministry of Education developing achievement standards for kapa haka, the opportunity was taken to create a domain name that better reflects the content of the standards.
The Ministry of Education (including their Subject Expert Group), MQS and the whakaruruhau have agreed on the new name for the domain that all of these standards will sit in, which is Te Ao Haka.
Main changes
· Change of domain classification from Māori Performance to Te Ao Haka to better reflect the content of the standards.
· All standards from the Māori Performance domain were reclassified to the new Te Ao Haka domain.
· The Māori Performance domain was designated lapsing.
