Summary of review and consultation process

Employers, providers, Rural Contractors New Zealand, Primary ITO, and industry representatives were surveyed to ensure the qualification is relevant and fit for purpose.

Industry consultation was conducted via the Connexis website, by email, virtual and face to face meetings and the Rural Contractors Board Meeting on Tuesday 9 September 2020.

Consultation documents were published on the Connexis Website in August and September 2020.

The industry Reference Group of technical advisers, Primary ITO qualification developer, and a Rural Contractors Board representative, considered the responses. The final drafts of consultation documents were published on the Connexis Website to allow for final feedback.

Main changes resulting from the review

The New Zealand Certificate in Rural Contracting (Level 3) with strands in Crop Production, Harvesting, and Vegetation Control was reviewed with the following changes made:

- The strategic purpose statements, graduate profile outcomes, evidence for assuring consistency, education and employment pathways, and general conditions for the programme were reviewed and updated for currency.

- Credit totals were updated to reflect current industry requirements.

- The vegetation control strand was changed to mechanical vegetation control.

- General conditions for the programme were removed.
