Summary of review and consultation process

The scheduled review of the New Zealand Certificate in Stonemasonry (Level 4) was initiated in December 2020 and involved conducting a broad consultation with key stakeholders. The consultation process included Review Working Groups representing each technical area of the stonemasonry industry, employers training apprentices, stonemasonry-related organisations and businesses, the BCITO Stonemasonry National Advisory Group (NAG) and programme providers.

Stakeholders were given the opportunity to provide their feedback via surveys, meetings, review of relevant documents and follow-up emails. The review confirmed that the existing qualification remains fit for purpose and meets the stonemasonry industry’s needs.

Main changes resulting from the review

Refinement of the Graduate Profile Outcomes

A number of large graduate profile outcomes have been broken down into multiple outcomes and/or reworded to clarify the skills and knowledge required of graduates and their intended weighting within programmes. Credits were redistributed to reflect these changes to graduate outcomes.

General minor changes

Other parts of the qualification have been updated and/or slightly reworded to provide current and clear information.
