Date new versions published July 2021
Planned review date December 2026
Summary
ServiceIQ reviewed the Airport Operations unit standards to ensure they are fit-for-purpose for the industry sector.
ServiceIQ was supported by the NZ Airports Association, Aviation Security Service (Avsec), and the Royal New Zealand Defence Force including subject matter experts and ServiceIQ representatives. The standards were circulated to the groups’ networks, and a consultation period was held. Feedback received was actioned where appropriate.
Main changes
· Purpose statements, guidance information, references, outcomes, performance criteria, and range statements were amended to ensure they are accurate and fit for purpose, reflect the standard content, and to ensure clarity for users in line with international regulatory requirements.
· Unit standard 17356 was replaced by two new standards to separate the theory and practical requirements of the airport security rules.
· A new standard was developed for aviation surveillance and behaviour detection.
· Titles of some standards were amended to better reflect outcomes.
· Credits for unit standards 29005 and 29009 were amended to better reflect the time required for learning and assessment.
· Unit standards were moved from CMR 0125 to CMR 0028.
Category C unit standard 17356 will expire at the end of December 2023
