MITO New Zealand Incorporated (MITO) has completed the review and reclassification of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published May 2021
Planned review date December 2025
Summary
MITO has reviewed the unit standards above to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Certificate in Reticulated Gas Pipelines (Level 4) with strands in Metering and Pressure Control, Polyethylene Pipelines, and Steel Pipelines (with optional strand in Gas Incident Response) [Ref: 3593] and to ensure they are fit-for-purpose for the industry sectors.
MITO was supported by the Gas Industry Reference Group including subject matter experts, trainers, employers and MITO representatives to review the standards. The standards were circulated to the working group’s networks, and a consultation period was held on the MITO website. Feedback received was actioned where appropriate.
Main changes
· Titles, purpose statements, guidance information, references, outcomes, performance criteria, and range statements were amended to ensure they are accurate and fit for purpose, reflect the standard content and to ensure clarity for users.
· The level of unit standards 12456, 19552, 30374 and 30382 was adjusted to provide a better match with the NZQF Level Descriptors.
· The credits of unit standards 10993, 12456, 19555, 30374, 30376, 30379 and 30383 were adjusted to reflect the time required for learning and assessment.
· Unit standards 30368, 30372 and 30373 were designated expiring and replaced as they were no longer meeting the needs of industry.
· 10 new standards were developed; six of these replaced the three standards that were designated expiring; four are new.
· Unit Standard 9550 from Gas Transmission Operations domain was reclassified to the domain Gas Network Construction.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2023
