Summary

The review of this standard was undertaken as part of the planned cycle of review of NQS unit standards.  The review panel comprised representatives from secondary schools, Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu, Victoria University, and YMCANZ-PTE.

The review panel recommended this 5 credit unit standard be replaced by a new 4 credit single-outcome standard with graded achievement criteria that focuses on evaluation (to align with the other Level 3 unit standards).

National consultation on the draft standard was conducted throughout August 2020 via the consultation section of the NZQA website.  All education organisations that hold consent to assess and those that have reported results against this standard were contacted directly via email and invited to provide feedback on the reviewed standards.

Main changes

· Unit standard 10347 was replaced by a new 4 credit single-outcome standard with graded achievement criteria.

· An exclusion was added to the exclusions list to avoid the use of credits from the new unit standard and the expiring standard for the purposes of meeting the requirements of the NCEA (National Certificate in Educational Achievement).
