Summary

Unit standard 8493 was first recommended for expiry in November 2011 without replacement, in view of the new leadership standards developed in that review.  However, the expiry date was extended, and the standard was subsequently reinstated in 2019 to enable delivery of targeted programmes for experienced apprenticeship graduates.

This review resulted in a decision to designate the standard expiring.  Although there is currently one programme being used that includes this standard, learners will have completed the programme before the standard expires.

The recommendation for expiry was well canvassed by email to organisations with Consent to Assess and through consultation on the NZQA website.  There were no objections.
