Summary of review and consultation process |
The early review of these qualifications was conducted on NZQA’s recommendation when it granted approval to develop a Level 5 qualification to include in the suite. Industry feedback showed that changes to the Level 6 qualification would be required to ensure there was a clear differentiation between employment pathways and graduate outcomes between these qualifications, and also to the Level 4 qualification to broaden the scope.
Key qualification review, development and consultation phases: Input and feedback from key stakeholders was invited and incorporated into the review and new qualification developments.
Key phases in the process included: · Internal review – the analysis of feedback from consistency events, moderation, staff feedback, and anecdotal feedback. · A series of EET Sector Reference Group meetings to discuss and receive their feedback and ideas for the qualification suite, and endorsement of final qualification documents. · A series of online meetings with screen industry representatives were held to develop and endorse the final documents. · Key stakeholder engagement – via email and/or face-to-face engagement. · Open public consultation – via the Skills Active website and newsletter lists. · Stakeholder endorsement of review outcomes – face to face meetings, online meetings and via email. · Internal approval for submission by Skills Active Senior Management Team.
Skills Active engaged with WeCreate and Unitec to explore opportunities for this qualification suite to meet the learning and credential needs of the film and screen sector who had identified a capability deficit. A result of this engagement was the request from the film and screen industry to broaden the scope and title of the Level 4 qualification and develop four new strands. The review resulted in the decision to rename the Video strand to Vision, and the Live Sound strand to Audio to accommodate inclusion of screen production technology language and terms in all qualifications across the suite.
Given the high uptake of the Level 4 qualification, and strong interest in the Level 5 and 6 qualifications, it is expected that the reviewed qualifications will continue to be relevant and provide the skills required to safely operate in a wide range of roles within the entertainment, event, and screen production technology industries. |
