Summary of review and consultation process |
The Skills Organisation has completed a scheduled review of the suite of Building Surveying qualifications. Consultation took place with stakeholders from across the Building Regulatory sector which includes industry stakeholders from Local and Central Government organisations, building consent authorities, the Building Officials Institute of New Zealand, the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors, and providers who are the main users of the qualifications. The consultation process was conducted with a working group from October 2020 to June 2021 over three two-hour video conferencing review meetings, phone conversations, individual face to face meetings and wider consultation via email correspondence. The consultation concluded that some changes needed to be made to ensure the qualifications showed clear and progressive educational and employment pathways, reflected the need to support the growing demand for processing building consents and technical qualifications to meet building regulations, are fit for purpose, future proof and reflected the terminology currently used in the practice and across the sector. |
