Summary of review and consultation process |
Industry consultation began for both qualifications in June 2021 with the Fire Protection industry association and individual companies from the Fire Protection Systems Technology sub-sector via a face-to-face meeting. This initial consultation identified that the qualifications were broadly satisfactory. The main changes required some adjustment to the graduate outcomes, including the credit values and wording changes were made to better reflect industry methods. Once these changes were made a final consultation with the working group over email indicated no further feedback or changes were required, with approval of the outcome of the review. |
Main changes resulting from the review |
· Graduate Profile Outcomes were amended to better reflect industry requirements and the outcomes of the graduates; · Level 3 – minor wording changes were required to GPO’s 5 & 6 to better reflect industry requirements. · Level 4 – Industry indicated graduates would only complete inspections once specialising in one of the strands. This resulted in the removal of ‘inspections’ component from outcomes 2 & 3. These have now been combined as one GPO and the credits have been re-distributed into the strands. As a result the overall credit totals of core and strands has changed. · Evidence requirements for assuring consistency were updated. · General conditions for programmes were amended to align with industry requirements and provide clarity. · Conditions relating to the graduate profile outcomes were removed to meet NZQA requirements
